FAMILY FIRST
“We’re a family business, first and foremost. With a long history of fabrication, I find myself in awe of this stone, and I want to share it with the world.” – Tom Fabbioli, Owner
A FAMILY AFFAIR
Tom Fabbioli purchased this one-of-a-kind quarry, and the fabricating facility to work Vermont Verde, “for my sons. They’re enjoying working with this stone. They’re learning to appreciate patience and perseverance, to build something with their own two hands.”
Vermont Verde’s Rochester quarry was mined by The Vermont Marble Company of Proctor, VT for most of the 20th century through the turn of the millennium, until the green serpentine quarry was purchased in 2007 by Tom Fabbioli and his family. They purchased it to expand their existing stone fabrication business in the Syracuse, NY area, and to compliment the 40,000 square foot processing facility they own in Barre, VT.
VVA, LLC employs full-time staff to quarry, fabricate, and market the quarry products, including Tom’s wife, Mary Margaret, and their two oldest sons, John
and Peter. Their youngest son, Thomas, still puts in quite a lot of time working with the family, while pursuing other interests. The Fabbioli family has improved and expanded the distribution and availability of serpentine stone slabs, tile and blocks throughout both the domestic and international markets. Their mission is making this remarkable stone reliably available year-round for both small residential and major commercial architectural projects.
The Fabbioli family has expanded the Rochester quarry considerably in both breadth and depth, and are now extracting the most dense and consistent Verde Serpentine the world has ever seen from the deepest part of the quarry.
They also recently discovered and began extracting a line of green schist, which is softer and easier to split, making it perfect for landscape design and decorative uses. Green Mountain Schist is more subtle in its color, which ranges from olive to pale gray-green, and is visibly flecked with elongated minerals that give it understated variations and a bit of sparkle. Now both green stones are being brought to market, breathing new life into this historical Vermont quarry. The Fabbioli family welcomes you to visit and view their stone at the quarry, warehouse, and fabrication plant.
OUR COMMITMENT
We are committed to upholding our strong family values in every project and task we take on.
We aim to bring Vermont Verde Serpentine back to the forefront of architectural design where this stunning green marble landed when it was first introduced over 100 years ago. There’s a whole new generation that simply needs to see Verde, because once you’ve seen it, you will have to have it.
